I started "investing" in real estate in 2005 with the purchase of my first home. This was during the real estate “boom" here in Phoenix. At the time, it was a home to me and I didn't really look at it as an investment. I'm still upside down on this property and it still has a negative cash flow of roughly $50 per month. Fast forward to today and I have ten properties totaling 19 doors. The moral of this short story is that you're not always going to hit a home run with everything you do. It's important to learn from every experience, good and bad, and chock it up to "tuition" when you fly out.
I still have a lot to learn and I try to learn something new every day. Our real estate portfolio is small but it's growing, and hopefully someday it will provide us with the independence to pursue other interests. We hope to both educate and learn from fellow real estate investors and small business owners while we continue to expand our holdings.
In our spare time, my wife and I like to ride our Harley Davidsons and yes, she has her own, plus we like to travel. I enjoy the occasional cigar from time to time and appreciate the right to bear arms.
Please take the opportunity to thank a Veteran when you see one. Without their sacrifices, we wouldn't enjoy the freedoms that we more often than not take for granted.
Thank You,
Casey & Julie Miles
